What Is The Mind Friendly Learning Framework?

The Mind Friendly Learning Framework offers a process for encouraging inclusive learning and effective teaching in religious education. It consists of the following steps:

ENCOUNTER

the teacher will

• establish an environment which encourages pupils to be relaxed and ready to learn
• connect the new learning to what pupils already know
• give pupils the big picture, an overview of the learning
• break the learning down into achievable steps and explain them
• employ multi sensory methods and open questioning for the input of the lesson

RESPONSE

The pupils will

• explore the learning using a range of learning styles (multiple intelligences) so that they are actively engaged
• review what they know, show what they know, teach someone else
• reflect on how they leaned best
